I mean tombstone...

Seriously. I've used it in the past plenty of times, but I went to sand the base of a new tombstone and the pieces all seperated and the two pieces of foam were all melted away. The Liquid Nails Heavy Duty adhesive says right on the tube that it can be used with "Exterior Foamboard"...is that something else? Other pieces I used the same stuff on are doing fine...so far **fingers crossed**

Anyone else ever have this issue?

never used the stuf for foam . I always use GREAT STUFF ( for my adhesive for foam ) and either put weight on it to hold together , or somehow bind/clamp the peices . Works for me . never had problems with it , or anything negative .

have you tried the same can of the stuff on another piece?...

It could be either the foamboard's chemical makeup is differed or the can's chemical makeup or even both... slightly more of one certain chemical could change the whole thing.... and cause a chemical reaction between them...


Just an idea...

I had the same problem when I was using the 3/4" pill styorfoam sheets. The Liquid Nails started ti disolve the foam. I switched to Titebond All-Weather Wood Glue and I've never looked back!!!!!

I bought a container of "Foam Fusion" from Hot Wire Foam Factory when I bought some tools and it ended up being white glue like Elmer's....When it ran out, I got Elmer's and it works exactly the same only much cheaper.....You can also use the Elmer's watered down for paper mache paste so I buy it by the big bottles for multable uses....ZR

Boogieman, I wondered about using Great stuff...because now I have these voids in between the foam pieces and I figured that might fill them AND stick to everything (because let's face it...Great Stuff sticks to just about everything!) but I wasn't sure of its overall adhesive capabilities...but foam most likely won't dissolve foam, right?!

Ruggerz, I think, if I recall correctly, the adhesive i used on the other parts of the foam was from a different tube of the same stuff...so you may have something there...

And TK, you use wood glue on foam? And it works alright? I may need to try that. is it reasonably priced?

Liquid nails makes a adhesive just for foam board and with that I have never had an issue...don't use industrial liquid nails for this. I always believe in using the right tool and over kill can kill, ie. it isn't always better! lol

Here's a link to the stuff I use. It is specifically made for Foam. Works great and doesn't eat foam board!

I've always used the "Liquid Nails Heavy Duty CONSTRUCTION Adhesive" and never had a problem with it. It really holds well too!
