I use clear paintable silicone caulking, works great! Looks an awful lot like the tubes of foam glue.

Yes , caulking is another very good one to use . Only thing I found with the caulking is that it never hardens solid . Almost , but not quite. The GREAT STUFF worsk super .. I use it and it fills in any voids/gaps and bonds SUPER !

I've had the same problem with liquid nails eating my foam. These are all great solutions that I will have to look at trying this Sept when I pull down the props from storage and have to repair (reglue) a bunch of foam back to their plywood backings. I like the great stuff idea as it will help fill in some of the voids created by the liquid nails in the past.
