This is a real Longnose Gar I shot while bowfishing so I let him dry out back and gave him a exotic more menacing paint job . He will be a part of my walk through shack museum in our backyard woods. I will be adding more fish bones later on.

    Did you carve that?

Nicely done, however you did it.

    edit: just read it's REAL.

    Have you considered molding it???

That fish looks like he objects to being eaten.

Thanks , I had him drying out back for a month. You can get synthetic fiberglass blanks but they are very pricey ($ 200 or more). Below are a few pics of him right after I got him.

    Dude ! ! ! !
You had that alligator gar drying/smelling out back for a MONTH ? Whoa .....
I can understand your neighbors not complaining , if , say , you lived in southern Jersey , where the word "smelly" originated , but in Dayton ?
man , you must have some AWEFUL nice neighbors ... LOL
Now , stick a little motor in that mouth and make him open and shut it via some sensor , as the TOT'ers come in ....

I have acres of woods out back for my trail so I put the fish back aways so they wouldn't smell too bad unless you walk right by them.Yeah I need a motor and some red LED's for his eye's

How dumb am I? I had no idea those things existed in nature. I thought Hollywood just made them up. DUH... Very cool & scary looking, should go over well. Nice job on the paint job.

The real gars don't look that bad, but your painted one looks down right prehistoric and terrifying. Love what you have done to him. Glad we don't have this in our waters.

How do you shoot them...are you in or out of the water??? Also, why does it's head turn skeletal and not it's body? What type of water do they live in...sorry for the questions...these things are seriously creepy!
