    Gee, THANKS!!
    Those two things are wooden spacers. The front of the ping-pong ball juts out just under 1/2 inch from the board they are mounted on. Those pieces are 1/2 inch thick plywood spacers so that Frankie's Girl can easily mount the eye mechanism on the back of her painting without the eyes rubbing/binding on the back of the painting.
