The Bottom of the eyelets need to be even with the Large washer at the end of the crank (that washer should turn freely BTW). If using pulleys that the top of the pulley wheel needs to be even with the large washer on the end of the crank arm. This website has great information about building and setting up the FCG.
ah, you know, it could be an issue with the position of the arms on the crank frame...thanks guys, you know, those pictures actually helped me...I've got the arms pointing more to the front now, and the ghost is trying to do backflips LOL
Looks like others have the eyelets almost lined up with each other
To keep your Ghost from "flipping" remember the counterweight. Also, if your ghost is like mine and has a styrofoam head and body, you might want to weight him at the low point of his torso to help gravity to do it's work. Play around with the two arms on the rig in and out to find that balance point and .....lastly, instead of just running the lines through open eyelets, i used small pulleys i purchased at Home Depot which really smoothed out the motion a lot, no snagging or friction. Have a look at my mechanism on my profile, if you need better views i will do my best to take more and even disect the mechanism for you......just ask.
