    Does anyone know if you can control EL (electroluminescent) wire with a Prop-1?

    Thanks

    This One:

    ELECTROLUMINESCENT STRIP, 5" X 1" | AllElectronics.com

    Says it works with 120VAC, customer comments confirm it, but say it works better with an inverter.

    you can use the PROP-1 and the RC-4 (plus its relays) to switch 120VAC to it:

    EFX-TEK :: Prop-1 Controller
    EFX-TEK :: RC-4 (SSR) Relay Control Board
    EFX-TEK :: Crydom Solid State Relay

    If you use an inverter to power the EL Strip:

    POWER SUPPLY FOR EL STRIPS | AllElectronics.com

    you can just switch the +12 volts that the inverter requires, directly with the PROP-1 and you don't need the RC-4 and relays.

    Thanks. The 12v inverter says it takes 470mA, and I believe the Prop-1 can only handle 200-250mA. Is there a way to work around this? Or is there an inverter out there that only takes 200mA?

    Well, I think I figured it out. According to Glowire Electroluminescent Wire "A 30 foot section of GLOWIRE at 2000hz draws less than 200 mA."

    Can anyone confirm this?

    You can actually drive 500ma if you are only driving one thing. If you are using the TTL level inputs/outputs for sensors or servos or even LEDs then the 500ma is only for the ULN2803 not for your other stuff.

    you can also add a relay to the PROP-1's output:

    MINIATURE 12 VDC RELAY | AllElectronics.com

    this will limit the current draw on the PROP-1.
