I did it! After many failed attemts to wire correctly and a couple of near successful attempts to shock my poop out, I built my first Jacob's ladder that actually works! I also wired in a switch so I can turn it off and on which is prett nifty since the switch is one of those old style twist kind. Anyways... here is a pic. You really can't see the arc because of the daylight, but it IS there. Behold my jolting fun.

You could have at least photoshopped a nice blue arc.

Try a pic with the room much darker and put your camera in night/fireworks mode, or long-shutter mode.
