My local bank just cleaned out its attic and threw away a bunch of great stuff, which I helped myself to.
As soon as I saw that Christmas tree stand on top of the dumpster I knew it would make the perfect base for a PVC-framed character. It's one of those that has screws on four sides that you can adjust in and out to fit any size trunk. With that one and the one I already have but never thought about using, I now have two stable feet for a couple of characters.
Hope this idea helps someone. I know getting things to stand up is always a problem. Now if I can just figure out a use for the stand that has a spike that you hammer up into the bottom of the tree....

Hey, don't pick on me. I can only imagine the looks on the faces of all the regulars here when they peek into a dumpster and find those discarded treasures. A hidden camera compilation of those expressions and jumps for joy is a youtube video I would like to see.

Hahaha... indeed. I have done a little 'diving' myself this year... first with cardboard and then with a couple of big barrels. Technically, it was all NEXT to a dumpster, though...
The tree stands are a great idea!!
