Thread: Dropping Spider Prop Question

Hey all. I've been lurking around here for some time now, but I haven't posted in a long time. My husband and I just bought our first house and I am so excited to finally have a whole yard of my own to decorate. Thanks to all of your wonderful ideas and projects I now have a long list of props to attempt to make. (Attempt being the key word!)

Anyway, I found this big furry spider today and I thought it would be cool if I could have him hanging on my porch above the door and when ToT's come, he could drop down above their heads every time I open the door. I thought that the simplest thing would be to attach a rope to the door and to the spider and when I opened the door the spider would drop, but my door opens in, so the rope would get shorter, not longer. I'm not very good at figuring out the mechanics of things, so I thought I would get some advice from all of you.

Just have the spider jump up instead of dropping down!
