Well all I need your input, I have built a frame and wiper motor set-up but it moves to much right to left. I just want it to go up and down but don't know the right linkage to use. I have tried several lengths of alluminum stock on the motor but I still get the same results. Does anyone have any ideas.

You need to add another joint in the linkage to eliminate the oscillation and transform the motion into a straight line. This may help explain:
Mechanisms and Movement
Think of the piston as the additional joint, guided by eyebolts.I...have many names...

Otaku,
Any ideas of length of linkage?

Should they be the same lengths?

Adding another linkage will eliminate that, but if you didn't want to put in the effort, why not just mount your mechanism perpendicular to the tombstone...then your side to side motion would be forward to backward. Done right, it'd be like a 'chin-up' motion.
Last night you were, unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me.
...Do it again.
