so we made a great cave for our haunt this year... but now we want to add some details... like torches.
anybody got any good ideas for making simple torches? nothing real big. some of my co-builders want to use the shaft of a toilet plunger with tissue paper and small light bulbs for a light source. figured id see what kind of ideas i could get on here before we start making them tho. thanks for any ideas![]()

I found this pic in one of the other threads, it was poted by Rikki:

From Spirit Halloween, they would probably do the trick

Assuming you don't want anything with an open flame in your cave, perhaps using PVC as the rod, so the wire for the light can be run through it, into the wall.
Just paint up the PVC to look like old wood. The effect of flame, however, may be a bit difficult.
Perhaps lanterns would be better - they can be wired to cheap flicker circuits (using florescent starters - here's a link to a page describing how: Flicker circuit ) - these will certainly give an eerie, flickering effect, and removes the need for a flame effect.Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...
2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...

I have a pair of the green skull torches in the middle. The only problem is, it's a live flame and i think he is looking for a "fake" flame because of the possiblity for accident and error. You could probably adapt these torches for a bulb and battery however, they really do look kewl.

You could try buying some of those solar powered tiki-looking flicker light torches. I bought some a few years back from Lowes and used them for some extra lighting in our corn maze. They really worked out great. You'd just have to leave them out through the daytime to charge up under the sun and then bring them in your cave at night. You could even decorate them up a little more to fit in. Just another idea.

wow great input. yes we are going for more of a flickering light. i like the simplicity of the solar lights tho, and we actually all ready have some of those. guess ill give the flicker lights a quick effort and use the solar lights as a fall back. thanks for the ideas
