My Fellow Spookster’s,
Sadly I am not the computer video editor wizard that some of you are and I applaud your talents. What I am interested in and have been looking for is a simple video editor that will allow me to cut scenes from a movie. A video editor program that will show the movie in a story, or time line, that I can simply mark point A and then B and click cut and it will then join the movie together. For the past month I have been trying to edit the 1922 silent movie Nosferatu (which I downloaded for free in Mpg4 format) down to 30 minutes that I will be projecting from the inside of my house onto my living room picture window. Windows movie maker was useless as were many other programs I tried. Finally I was able to edit it down crudely to 40 minutes using Adobe Premier Elements yet when I burned it to a DVD it put all the scenes I edited out of sequence. I know it’s more for the effect then anything else as part of my haunt because I don’t expect people to be setting up lawn chairs and eating popcorn while watching this movie from my graveyard but dam it would be nice to have the scenes in sequence. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions my fellow Spooks? This Ghoul is totally stumped!

use dvdflick to convert your mp4 into vob files (dvd files). Then use dvdshrink to edit via the reauthor mode

Ooookay, care to apply for the job Victor? Thanks I'll look into the programs you mentioned. Hope they are free or shareware!

I use Premier Elements a lot. I would suggest trying it again. It can be a little buggy.

The programs listed are all free to download. If you can operate Premier you can easily do these programs.

Ahhhh ..... Terra & victor-eyd, the ole Spookster tries his decrepit best but just can't keep up with you young ghouls I'm afraid. With Premier I'm afraid the best I can say is it was one PITA for me but much better then Windows Movie Maker which IMHO is a waste. I have taken your suggestion victor-eyd and downloaded the programs you suggested and if I can find some time and luck this weekend inbetween digging graves I hope to report success.

I do understand. It is a beast of a program. I ended up getting a tutorial book for it which finally helped me understand the monster. In the future, if you want to try again here is a link the the book (it's bundled with a Photoshop tutorial):
Amazon.com: Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Classroom in a Book Collection (Classroom in a Book): Adobe Press: Books

My fellow spookster's this is a cry for help before my rotten brain completely oozes from my fast emptying cranium. If I wasn’t such a stickler for perfection I would care but this video editing deal is like a worm eating away at my rotten corps and it has the best of me.
For back ground I downloaded the movie Nosferatu (1922 B&W classic) in mp4 format. I tried to use Adobe Premier Elements to edit this movie down to 30 minutes which I plan on projecting from inside my house on a LED projector and onto our picture window with looping as our magical night goes on. I was able to edit the movie but when I burned it for some reason Adobe Premier Elements jumbled all the scenes out of order and for the death of me I can figure out how or why? After mucking with this program for to long I have concluded that the best thing for Adobe Premier Elements, along with Windows DVD Movie Maker, is that they both burn in hell for eternity!
So I cried out for help and victor-eyd suggested using a free program called DVD flicks to convert the mp4 for to a dvd format and then using DVD Shrink Edit It. Sounds great except I guess I’m the stupidest spook in this world because I could never figure out how to convert this mp4 movie file on my hard drive into a DVD that he said could be edited by DVD Shrink Edit It.
I tell you spookster's this little project has turned out to be such an nightmare that I’m strongly considering digging up another grave so I can suck some more coffin liquor! Surely there has to be a simple free program that can convert a mp4 file into something usable and then edit it by cut and joining scenes with out a degree in video editing???
Times running out and the Ole Spookzilla sure is one happy grave digger right now.

What you're doing cannot be that hard. PM the specifics including where you got this video and I'll see what I can do

You could also use "Super" to convert any file into "vob" format
There are two kinds of people in this world, those that think there are two kinds of people and those that know better.
