If you're like me, there is nothing better than coming across a rare find that sends your mind racing to where in your haunt it would fit perfectly, or how you would change it to make it your own design.

I was on a short bike ride last night and found a big wash tub that will be my new witches cauldron. SCORE! Got any stories like that to share?

Nice find! My story is similar to yours actually. Last year I was making a 6' stirring witch and needed a cauldron but I wanted something big and imposing rather than the smaller cauldrons you see for sale. I wanted a 55 gallon drum preferable black heavy duty plastic that I could cut off top 1/3 to make the cauldron. A friend on mine knew that and as he was driving home from work he passes a small dam .. lo & behold in the dam wash was a BLACK 55 GALLON HEAVY DUTY PLASTIC DRUM that was missing the top 1/3! He fished it out and I only had to dress it up a bit.

Came across a Polk Audio sub-woofer and satellite speakers this past Saturday for $15 bucks (looked up online - the original retail price 9 years ago was about $850).
All are in working order, and the sub-woofer is superb - going to have some good sound in my yard for my haunt this year.

My other best find was about a week after Halloween 4 years ago, when I found a display at a CVS Pharmacy still up - I asked the manager if I could buy it, and he let it all go for $40...was 3 pillars (foam, covered in skulls, each about 3 foot tall), about 15 feet of foam chain (huge links), and 7 foam pumpkins.
Hell is an eternity of getting up at 4am to nothing but decaf coffee...

2009 photos and 2008 photos ...uhmmm...and what I have evolving...

Attain, Looks like we're on the opposite ends of Philly, I am outside of Philly in Marple Township. Nice to meet a 'local' haunter though.

I just found a couple 6" diameter, 4' long tubes that are made out of 1/3" thick cardboard in the recycling bin at a local warehouse. Absolutely prefect for a couple of cannons!

Years ago while driving city bus I came across the lower half of a maniquen. I grabbed it and threw it on the seat behind my drivers seat. Within about 5 min. I had at least 3 people ask if they could have it. I think it was in the fall and I've used it every Halloween since.
