I get more of a boom sound with one of my cannons by using a 2" solenoid valve!

Unfortunately it's a $300 valve, but it gets the boom sound by dumping the entire tank of air in about 50ms.Brian Warner

I've built air cannons but this year I built a carbide cannon....can you say BANG??? LOL You really need to build one...it's so much fun. I plan on sliding a three or four inch black pvc "cannon barrel" over it and mounting it to one of my cannon bases. Sounds a lot better with the pvc pipe over it because it gives it an echo and more "bass".

Do you need the boom for a pirate theme?
If not, trust me, the air cannon will be a success without the BOOM.

Wilbret. I've seen, heard and built a lot of air cannons and none of them make a "boom" or a "bang" of any sort. They make a large loud whoosh noise...a quick rush of air. If you want a bang build the carbide cannon, if not build an air cannon. Regardless of whether you're doing a pirate haunt or not.
