I worked on a few Halloween projects during the hurricane, and this is one I finished. It is a dollar store cooler, a $10 gargoyle from Walgreens, red acetate and paint. I printed out the text on my printer, taped it onto the cooler and used an Xacto knife to cut out the letters. I saved the insides of the "A"s and glued them onto the red acetate once it was positioned and dried on the inside of the cooler.
I painted it dark gray first, then dry brushed the texture. I repainted the gargoyle to match.
I plan on using a pumpkin light (maybe on blink) to light it up. I'll attach it to the ground with coat hangers.

I forgot:
I paper machéd the top so that it was smooth. The cooler bottom was sort of obvious, so I used phone book pages and glue/water mix and it looks fine painted.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

Love it...but I am confused on what you did with the inside of the "A"'s? I must be having a brain fart or something...

That's a neat idea and looks really good.

I didn't want the stencil look (where the insides have to be attached by a thin strip to the outside) so when I cut out the letters, I saved the inside of the "A" (that little triangle piece) and glued it onto the red acetate.
Here's a image that I hope makes more sense:

See that the tall skinny triangle part of the inside is "floating" and not attached to the rest of the cooler? It was just glued onto the acetate.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

Looks great!! The only suggestion I might make is to monster mud or somehow otherwise color the gargoyle's wings. The burlap is a tad distracting.
But very creative and awesome prop!!
