Anyone have any thoughts on the vei v-950 versus the american dj 1700hd? The 1700 has more wattage, but teh VEI's seem to be more popular. Any thoughts appreciated.

I was debating the same issue. I liked that the DJ1700 has the auto shut off, not sure if the 950 has that or not. The only way I could decide was by finding a DJ1700 on ebay for 135.00. That did it for me. Seems to me that once your in that price catagory it is just going to depend on personal preferance. I've seen great reviews for both machines.

A lot of the posts I have read on the 950 people say "wow it puts out a lot of fog" or "it filled my whole cul de sac" was your initial reaction similar with the 1700?

GOOD GOD!! LEt me start by saying that when the UPS guy walked up with the box I could tell I was in for a treat..the box was huge. I'm used to getting the lite fx foggers and thought it would be about the same size....wrong. I load it up with Froggy's fog to test it and this thing is awesome, a full blast and I could barely see my house from the driveway. WAY COOL. I'll see if I can post a video of it tomorrow.

Hey guys, I dont know anything about the 1700 but I do have the VEI-950 and I LOVE it. And NMCJR was right, it puts out A LOT of fog and will fill up your yard, the neighbor's yard and your neighbor's neighbor's yard if you want it too ;-) It has a nice controller to adjust the fog output and timer and every thing so you can adjust it however you want. When I was reasearching foggers last year for something heavy duty that will last, everybody kept saying the V-950. So I decided to get it and Im 110% happy with mine. These days I have definitely learned you get what you pay for so I opted to dish out the money now instead of every year replacing not so good foggers. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input. I decided to go with my gut and after seeing so many recommendations for the V-950, and sensing time running out I ordered the 950. I built a 32 gallon chiller with 4" pipe, including a 12' section on the output with 5 T's (one every 2 feet) as a way to distribute it accross the top of my yard and then downward. This is my first year for doing Halloween, and I am incorporating my Light-O-Rama controllers as well. So, lots to do but at least I will have some time to experiment with the fog--besides, how cool is playing with a fogger anyway?!?!
For anyone else reading this, if you are thinking about ordering the VEI's, I would suggest doing it soon as supply will begin to become scarce as far as I can tell.

I have a Chauvet F-1700 and this thing is amazing. Have a 44 gal chiller with 4 inch dryer pipe that is around 18 feet tucked inside leaving the middle open. Before exiting the chamber it goes through a 4 inch PVC pipe about 3 feet in length then bends 90 degrees to the output in the middle of the chamber. This way the pipe before exit is encased in ice before leaving. This halloween is going to be a blast with this. The fog never leaves ankle height and it pumps it out like crazy. Bought the machine for $249.00 with a free remote, but it was worth every penny.
