I bought 2 gargoyles last year (day after halloween) that I plan on using this year. The problem is they appear to be made from plaster, made for indoor use, but I want to use them outside. They are painted black and gray, but I'm afraid that the overnight dew might soak into the plaster and ruin them.
Does anyone know what I can do to "seal" them? The paint on them is great, so I don't want to alter the paint if I can avoid it. I know some products are not for use with plaster and can break it down, so I want to be careful. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!![]()

The people at Home Depot, in the paint section, are very knowledgable. I don't know of any sealant that would adversely affect plaster. There are many spray or brush-on sealants that would work.

you might also check an art supply store. They might be able to tell you what can be applied to preserve them outdoors. Home Depot should be just fine, just giving you a second option is all.

Thanks for the advice. I went to Home Depot and they showed me a spray on sealer that seemed to work pretty good. I put 2 good coats on each piece. I will post some pics soon of them when they are finished. I'm building boxes right now for them to sit on that house red spotlights to shine on them.
