I am in the process of building an electric chair prop and I need some suggestions on how to make this work. Here's my idea....we have built a regular electric chair out of wood and I have purchased a small sensor mat to be placed in the seat of the chair. When someone sits on the sensor mat I want the chair to vibrate, with a shocking sound and flash of light to go off at the same time. No actual electrical shock will take place, just the effect. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...I'm running out of time.

Thanks so much for your help.....Shea. That is exactly what I am looking for! The only problem I have now is how to hook up the gadgets to the sensor mat. Any ideas? I've never worked with a sensor mat before so it is all foreign to me. Please help!

If you can find a old washing machine. Take the motor and a pulley off of it. Drill a hole in the pulley off setting it. Mount this to the floor your chair is on. It will give you the vibrate effect you are looking for. Be Warned!!!!!!! It may be more than your visitors are expecting. Of course you may have to ask some to move on! I use this just as a vibrating effect in my fun house.

deannabanna, I've been want to have an interactive electric chair like you describe where the tots sit in it and it vibrates/shakes. To date I've not made a chair because I have not yet found a way to make it vibrate enough so you can really feel it, I've tried a couple of vibrating motors that were from a magic fingers bed, the vibration was too subtle. the I tried a pneumatic vibrator, again not enough vibration for my preference, I could of went with a bigger pneumantic unit but that requires a lot more air then my compressor could deliver. Of course I am trying to do this with out breaking the bank. Right now this one is on the back burner. Best of luck

I don't know the brand of the sensor mat, but I bought it from monsterguts.com. I have found a prop controller called the PicoBoo FI-105 that you hook the sensor mat to and it can play audio and has AC outlets. I have order one today at the cost of $99.99 which is a little more than I wanted to pay, but at this point there's no turning back....lol. I am not experienced when it comes to electronics so I have downloaded the manual that explains how to use the prop controller, so I guess we'll see how it turns out, but I appreciate all your help. Happy haunting!

I haven't pulled my stuff out yet. So I can't get to it to give you a picture. I did dill a new hole in the pulley to get it off balance. This is a link to where I got the Idea. I use it in a fun house setup. Hall way with teeter toter board, then the shaking floor, spinning floor. You get the idea. I can tell the more offset you make it the harder it will shake. If you go to far you may have to slow the motor down. You really want a good balance, so your motor dose not burn up. But you still want a shocking effect. This will certainly do that. I use old car valve springs for support. They were free too! Hope this helps.

I think this is the easiest way to acheive what you are looking for. I may borrow this idea myself.
