I was just about to place a Harbor Freight order for various essentials when I came across this

Its a knob that you turn to control the speed of a router. I have a wiper motor that I got from MonsterGuts last year. Do you think this would adjust the speed of the wiper motor?

What do you have powering your wiper motor?
Most wiper motors are 12V DC. That router speed controller just varies the volatage on an AC power source.

I power my wiper motors with a power supply that converts 120V AC to 12V DC. If you vary the input (120V AC) it will vary the output (12V DC) so, yes, that speed controller would work.

Then again, so would a regular dimmer switch that you can buy at Wal-mart.

You could take short extension cord, install the dimmer switch in the cord, then plug your power supply into that. That way, you could vary the 120V going into the power supply, which would vary the 12V comming out to the wiper motor.

(note: some power supplies (regulated) will not work this way. The output voltage is regulated to remain constant.)
