I know a lot of us have medium/large props, and each Halloween year brings more to our collections. But, what do you all do for storage after Halloween?
In years past, I've always had small things, so they simply went into a storage bin or two and put up into the rafters. No biggie there. Since I've really gotten into Halloween (prop-wise) this year, I'm starting to wonder about how all of my stuff is going to be stored. My two big items are my bat cage and my moonlight/lightning window. Plus, I'm thinking of creating a Pumpkinrot. Storage shouldn't be a big problem right now, but I'm thinking long-term. I know I'm going to create more large props in the years to come.

Most of our things are stored in the attic with the exception of the life size stirring witch with kettle, she stands in our office. What we try to do with the larger props is make it as 'breakdownable' as possible. The organ that we have just made will also be breakdownable. The top is already a seperate piece as is the keyboard panel with motor. The frame will have slide on fixtures so that you can slide the pieces of the organ in and out for storage and set up.

I've got some huge props, they now occupy my basement, garage, and attic. Some props you can use for storage themselves. I built a coffin table and one of my zombies and several other small props live there. I'm a firefighter so I keep two of my big hanging props at work, in my room. That way they dont get jumbled and ruined plus I get to look at them all the time. I would keep your batcage out all year..thats me. I checked out your flickr page and I have to say I love your props, good luck with storage.

Several hundred square feet of empty attic space with a 12 foot pitch in the ceiling (for any tall items), rafters in the detached garage for items that can stand a little outside heat/humidity, and this year, for the first time, storing behind my garage outside (wood flats, lifted off the ground and wrapped in tarp). I'm lucky enough to have storage for 10 other haunts if I wanted - who's first! We can set up a monthly PayPal thing.

I've got a huge storage room in the basement dedicated to Halloween, a 1200 sq ft attic and an entire shed that is nothing but Halloween storage. I also use the spare bedroom upstairs and the closet in it for extra storage space....and I'm running out of room! DeadTed, I may be moving in!!! LOL

So far to date I have everything stored in the attic, except for the Butler, who resides in the spare bedroom and the fence panels that I just leave propped up against the back yard fence (Just means that they get a weathered look and hopefully a few real webs!)
This year will need to be different, what with the columns, the 5 totes of additional props, and the other props I'm making.
So we are going to get another garden shed and I will use the existing one for halloween storage. I have considered leaving the columns out - and place them either side of the shed ... who else would have a garden shed with gothic columns for an entrance ??
As for storage next year ...

Our stuff takes up most of our basement and attic......we had a storage unit for a while, but it got to be too expensive so I'm not sure where that stuff is going to go this year.

We had a 12X12 storage shed built for lawn tools/Halloween. The best part is it has 8 foot ceilings and a loft in it, so that gives us a little extra room. Since we've bought a few Gemmy's this year, though, I don't know if I want to store them out there with the heat and humidity in NC. We are thinking of putting them in the attic instead - Sooo I guess the storage is now moving inside also!

Some of our stuff is in the attic, but the majority of it takes up a large portion of our garage. I have a few items in the house in secondary bedroom closets.
I'm thinking that attic/garage storage is probably not a good idea due to heat. One of our props we got last year that has latex over foam has some cracking and splits. It's been hanging on our garage wall.
I don't have to room to do temperature controlled storage, so that's going to be a factor for future projects and purchases: must be stable enough to withstand storage in Texas summer heat.
I'm just hoping that our anamatronics survived... guess we'll find out in another week or two.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I don't have a basement, but I do have 2 large attics. I keep most of my props in the house attic. It is very well ventilated and so far nothing has gotten ruined up there in several years. I keep my mechanical props in the garage attic. Some of my large pieces like my boarded up windows, and fencing rolls are kept out back on a pallet under a tarp.
