Our Kmart had 2 of these and both didn't work with the try me button. So not sure if the batteries were bad or what. They look kinda cool but very pricey for what you get.

You know, I considered making a wall of skulls a la the Sedlec Ossuary. (Sedlec was sort of the place to be seen among the 1300's pushing up the daisies set and they kinda ran out of places to put them.) So lets just say I like the idea of the wall of skulls.
At the time I thought about doing this with buckies, and the technique in this little tutorial on Makezine. You wouldn't get the animation of the Kmart prop (well, not without a lot more work) but you could afford to do a lot more wall.Reduce - Reuse - Reanimate

I suggest using these for fascades, etc. They are full sized flat back and are $36 for 6 pack which is kind of pricy but they look great!

My wife bought one of these this weekend. We couldn't get the "Try Me" button to work either in the store. I got it out last night and opened the box and up on the left side towards the top there is the pull tab to activate the batteries - but i am not sure you can get to it without opening the package.
The skulls move by looking left or right (I wouldn't call it rotating like the box says).
I'll try to post some video of it later today after I figure out how to convert the 3GP2 files from my phone to something I can post.- Brad

You can make a skull wall your self for a lot cheaper. Take one good skull, press the face into some clean moist sand to make a mold, then fill the mold with Great Stuff. You wouldn't believe the detail you keep this way! Cost?? One skull and a few cans of GS!!
Of course no animation, but with a little creativity you can add that too.

Here is the video - sorry about the watermark, I couldn't find the converter that I had paid for once before.

that one skull in the middle appears to be moving his head up while the other turn to one side or the other.
If thats the case I really like the randomness that it adds.
