Here's a couple of pictures of my spider rig. We're doing a mine theme this year and spidey will be waiting for the tots at the end of the shaft. It will be able to leap forward, move up/down, side to side, and spray.
I used a lot of parts that I already had laying around. I'm waiting for a few misc pieces and then I should be good to go. I'll try to get spidey on the rig this week and post some more pictures.

Oh what a devious device you have created! Did you use a mig welder? if so what kind do you have?
side notes, I hate you for having such a clean garage and I want a welder

Very nice job.
first time I have seen a linear cylinder such as that used to push a prop out like that. very creative.Brian Warner

Thanks Guys,
Scareisburg, yes, I used a mig on this. I am not expert and have been learning as I go. I have a Lincoln 135 amp and I am running it with gas. I would recommend the Lincolns highly. Ha, I cleaned the garage up before I took some pictures.
Gadget, thank you. I had the linear actuator already, so that is why I used it as I did. I initally was going to try to use a cart and rail type of system, but the leaper is much quieter, faster and more dependable I think. The prop is pretty big, just over seven feet long before extended. That rodless cylinder is a workhorse and is able to dispatch spidey pretty quickly.
I'll try to get picture on Spidey on the rig. He is about 40" or so round. I've used him before. I found him at Party City a couple of years back. He was a steal for $35.

Here's a quick update on my spider. I'm pretty much done with all my plumbing except for installing the water mister.
I started the wiring tonight. I should have him pretty much wrapped up by week's end if all goes well.

Damn, do you do this professionally? That looks like a top notch prof. job! I would love to be able to weld and put things like that together. Maybe one day. I'm soooooo jeolous. It is really nice. Do you powercoat your frame before putting the pneumatics and plumbing in? I left my frame outside and even though it's under a fiberglass rock I noticed that the frame is starting to rust.
