Here's an animated armiture that I've been tinkering with.
Video of servo sam - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I got the inspriation from Spookineer. Not sure if he'll be ready for this year or exactly what I'm going to use it for...just got it up and running, still need to add the head rotate, sync some sound and glue it together. since this is my first foray into servos. Lets just say its a work in progress.

I haven't thought about what to dress it as...perhaps a grave digger? Always open for suggestions
The servos are Hitec HS645 MG and HS755MG. I got the 645's off of ebay and purchased the others. Since there is no space constraint I got the larger 1/4 scale servos (hs755) which also have a little more torque. All have Metal Gears (MG)
Right now I am operating it off of a playback recorder. as time progresses I may try some controller boards and VSA. Thats a boris head but would love to add a 3 axis to it. Its experiment that will evolve over time (and as $$$ becomes available)

I think you should dress him as Uncle Sam. That one arm movement looks like the 'uncle sam wants you' poster

How come all your films come out sideways???
Want me to flip it for you?
Nice work, cant wait to see what you do with it.

I like it! I would love to see more folks do more arm movements. Great alternative use of servos.

Ms Meeple, I re -oriented it with my pic software but for some reason when I load them into photobucket it reverts back to the orginal orientation.
The arms are just some dowels I clamped on to see how it looked/worked. They are kind of stiff looking an elbow might help, guess I'll make one are with and elbow perhaps to raise a lantern. was thinking about using just some heavy wire that I could bend as needed yet it would still be light weight.
the other thought is to use some kind of cable and pulley arrangement so when the shoulder moves the elbow will move with it...but don't have a clue as to how to make it work.
