Does anyone know whether VSA can control RGB LED fixtures via DMX? I've got an Enttec unit on order and would like to control a RGB LED fixture for low power/low heat & color flexibility. However, I don't really see a way within VSA to control color & fade, etc. Anyone done this?

you use DMX dimmer controls, typically an RGB LED unit has 4 channels so you need to use 4 dimmer controls to have complete control over the entire range of colours/strobes and brightness

And, I've got to add, they are wonderful! The flexibility of being able to have the light in my MIB change from pulsing, eerie purple, to flashing menacing red to white strobing is incredible. it's a show onto itself. I'm so glad I went the DMX direction.

Cool trick to do with your MiB is to give it two sound tracks, the first is a puppyish while with friendly green lights and no movement of the box, and then when your victims come to investigate turn it to angry flashing red snarling soundtrack and lots of motion.

Hee, great minds think alike. I did something really close to what you said. First, nothing from the box except the sound of someone (vampire) in there rustling around a bit. Then moaning with the purple light becoming bright. Then one sharp hit from the cylinder. A pause and then the color pulses with the sound of moaning. Then a growl and the color turns to yellow. Then the cylinder starts really whacking, while the color changes to red and brightens and dims like the vampire is really moving around in there trying to get out. Then the vamp just throws a huge fit and the color changes to bright white strobing. Then it stops, changes back to the purple with a soft, eerie wind sound and fades to black. In total the routine is about 2 minutes.

That RGB DMX light really sets the story.

Actually you have gone one better, I did mine a couple of years ago and used simple red and green lamps and a bunch of relays, but now you have me thinking that I can redo it with DMXorcist, all the more so because I have a converted a couple of pneumatic manifolds to DMX

Thanks for the responses, gang. Any particular models of RGB LED that you favor?
