Thread: stalactite etc props

For my halloween party this year I was thinking about decorating my bathroom like a cave. I wanted to throw out my plan and see what the pros on here thought...

I want to do stalactites from the ceiling, I was thinking get the general shape with chicken wire, then cover them in paper mache, add details with bondo(this may not be necessary since details arent huge as im counting on the room being just bright enough to see), and finally paint over top.

I wanted to do a body or something in there, either hiding in the corner or hanging from the cieling, for that I was thinking paper mache and chicken wire as well, Im not to worried about details since the general shape will be creepiest of all.

Finally lighting, I want to do glow sticks and ideally a flicker bulb that resembles a dying flashlight, however i have not been able to find any online so if anyone had any ideas there that would be great.

I realize sixty days isnt much time to get this done, but i saw the descent last night and knew I had to do it. Let me know what ya think, thanks preemptively for any advice!

The stalactites will probably be faster and lighter weight by using metal window screen formed into cone shapes and covered in Great Stuff. Let us know how it all turns out!

I thought the staligtites could be made of carved down pool noodles and painted. just a thought.

I think if you used the pink/blue foam board. Cut and glued it to the size you want your stalactites then carve the shape's and paint. Hang them with maybe double side sticky tape. For your body or something in there. How about a chicken wire armature then cover with a costume.
