Has anyone come up with a cheap, easy, effective way to hide power cords and extension cords going to props, lighting, etc.?

Nothing ruins a scene quite as quickly as an ugly, orange cord running through the middle of it. And I can't always arrange the props to hide the cords.

Is there a type of black paint that I can put on the cords that won't flake off all over my hands when I roll everything up after Halloween?

    All ideas are welcome.

find and buy a roll of Black colored Duct tape and tape the cord to the ground. you can only use it once but nobody notices it.

Over the past two years, I've replaced all of my orange cords with dark green and black ones. Lowes and HD carry them. You can't see them at all if used on a lawn. I agree that the orange ones can really spoil the effect. If I'm lighting an area like a garage or patio, I'll run them along the base of the wall or sometimes along rafters and then drop the end where it's to be plugged in.

Don't know if it will help or not but I am going to use coat hangers and cut them at the bend at the shoulder and use them as a tent stake in my lawn this year to barrie my lines.

i also use black and green cords, last year i used some orange and just staked them to the ground, let your grass grow up a bit before halloween and it will do a pretty good job of hiding the cords. this year is my first year using all green and black cords and black air lines. i am also building rocks/planters/props to hide lights, power supplies, etc

Out in the graveyard you can hide a thousand sins with a sufficient quantity of dry leaves

in the corridors I generally run power cables up high on the right hand side of the corridor and run signal cables along the left hand side of the corridor.... preferably high, but of need be low.

That's what I do, mainly to the small, thin cords that run from AC/DC adapters (wall warts). I use quite a few of those.
As far as regular extension cords I just try to run them as straight and as flat on the ground as possible, without any loops or kinks.
Haven't had anyone trip on those yet.

Second the leaves. I cover my cables with landscape cloth, then cover the cloth with leaves. Works great.

Not many leaves in my area (live on the plains) but the landscape fabric is a good idea. I can throw some hay/straw over the top.

I knew I would get some good suggestions here.

I use black duct tape to cover up stuff that's along the ground, the concrete. Things that are in the flower beds, I use extra wood bark and sort of dump it along whatever wires are poking out. That landscape cloth is a great idea, we won't have any bark in our flower beds this year.
