Say you were looking to make a long oval shape in mache, say 18 inches end to end. Something fairly surdy, preferably hollow.

    What form would you use?

For that matter, what are some interesting sources for form of all shapes and sizes, aside from the classic boxes and plastic cauldrons?

I have used just about everything as a paper mache form. If you are only covering one side of an object and you don't want the mache to stick, cover it with plastic wrap first.
Upside down bowls of various shapes and sizes are very handy, as a margarine containers (depending on what you're trying to do). Did you want rounded oval or pointy oval? Would covering half a football work? What about using a ballon and wrapping it in masking tape until it's closer to the shape you want? Or if you have foam in the shape you want, cover it in plastic wrap and mache away.

    Sheepies, Thanks.

You gave me that little jog, think outside the box kinda thing, much appreciated.

What I'm thinking is a 5 gallon plastic bucket from Home Depot, and I can use crumpled paper and tape to round the ends once I have solid mache form. That should give me a good sized oval as a start.
