Last year I made a hearse for my cemetery. I wanted to share the pics and idea with everyone as it was a great hit. I added a skeleton caretaker in front of it holding a flickering lantern and the trick-or-treaters took pictures in front of it all night long. I got so many great comments on it. It was some what difficult to make but if it were easy, then everyone would do it.
Sorry for the terrible pictures, I bought a better digital camera and will take better pictures of it this year. I plan on finishing the wheels and adding a riding area with lanterns mounted to it for 2008.
P.S. My first post as I just found this site..

That's great. I am still dying to have a hearse for my party this year. I stole a lot of ideas from "A witch from Canada" - you should check out her pics, they're awesome! But what's different in yours that I like is that the corpse is lying in the open of the hearse (or am I wrong?) - no need for it to be inside a coffin and it looks especially creepy. Are your wheels from Harbor Freight? I bought 4 from them but there are still the the boxes. Did you make your dead dude or is it a mask? Sorry it's hard for me to tell - I lost my regular glasses and for now I'm having to wear my prescription sunglasses.
BTW, welcome to the forum!

Great job! I know how much work it is to build such a large prop. I built my hearse in 2006 and it took a few months.
You can see it at Behind the Screams - Spooky Kingdom, CT.

Great job! I too have hearse envy.....it just won't fit in my yard darnit. But whenever my crypt crumbles, the hearse will be in production. That's a great prop to use for picture taking.

Hey BooBerrie... Yes the wheels were from Harbor Frieght. Warning on those.. They are cheeply made. The centers on them will crack with the slightest movement. My plan this year is to reinforce those by cutting circular pieces of wood to go on both sides of it for reinforcement. I really want a smaller wheel for the front but I cannot find one anywhere. I guess i'll just make my own.
The head and arms I bought at a halloween party store. I bought the nice clothes at good will for like 3 dollars. I stuffed him with walmart bags =).
I too thought about a coffin but it would take away from the main eye focus of the guy.
