Ok I have posted a few threads about trying to get my boris to sing along to halloween songs. One problem...I cant get the voice on one speaker and the music on another! People have tried to be helpful, but I guess they think I have any idea what Im talking about! I am not electronicly challanged...I am electronicly dead! All I need is some halloween songs (this is halloween, Monster Mash ETC) with the voice on one channel and the music on another! I am at my wits end her. If anyone has the ability to do this, I would be glad to mortgage my house and sell my soul to you! I just need a download with the voice on the left speaker and the music on the right!

Is your music in MP3 format? Load the music into a program like Audacity or GoldWave (I prefer GoldWave myself) and get all of it onto a single channel. Record sounds like "la-la-laa" into the other channel, sync'ing the "la-la" sounds to the lead vocal. The music track goes to your speakers, the "la-la" track goes to Boris. I use this technique for sync'ing servos to voice tracks except that I use the tone generator function in GoldWave to lay down a single tone for one side, then break it up to match the spoken words. I get very realistic jaw movement this way, as I can adjust the duration, volume and decay of the "beep" track. Let me know if you'd like to see an example file that uses this method.

    GH,

My wife and I sat down and created an MP3 file with the Monster Mash song playing on the right channel, and the lyrics (voiced by my wife) on the left channel.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out a way to upload it, or attach it here (attach keeps telling me it is an invalid file. I guess you can only attach graphics files. I even tried changing the extension to .jpg. No luck.), and I don't have a server that I can post it to for you to download.

If you send me a private message with your email address, I will send it, as an attachment, to you.

We attempted "This is Halloween" first, but there are way too many voices, and lots of overlapping lyrics. It probably would not work out as a driver file for a talking Boris.

Are you useing a stereo "splitter" make sure the stereo splitter is connected directly to your CD Player, then you just run one line to the Boris & one to your powered speakers. If you can attach a pic of what splitter you are useing.

    geoffm,
I just finished a track for my Miss Thrifty skelly. She sits in a rocking chair, singing to her doll. PM me with an address and I'll send it to you. It's short, so I loop it on an MP3 player. If you open it in GoldWave or Audacity, you can see how I used the "tone track" to control the servo motion. I don't want to hijack this thread - let's stick to PM's.

Got the email and the proposal. I'm thinking that at might be easier on the songs you mentioned (especially Dragula and Time Warp) to do it with the tone, like Otaku mentioned. Those are kind of hard to sing all the way through, even with the lyrics printed out.

That would still give you the song on the right channel to play through the speakers, and a "voice" (tone) on the left channel to drive the talking Boris.

    Would that be acceptable?
Do you have the specific music tracks that you want customized? (i.e. Can you send me the song files?)
