So, I was looking at the "ghostly group" at Halloweenonly.com, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to make something that could make these ghosts actually rotate slowly.
I want to install a high powered black light to make the ghosts float and glow.
It doesn't have to be those ghosts in particular. I could probably use my own materials to make the ghosts, but I just wanted to show that item for a better idea.
What do you tink?

Try a ceiling fan motor, if you use a dimmer switch you can control the speed. here is something similar to what you want to make FlyingGhost

Hey TT-
I made a rotating circle of 4 ghosts (crank ghosties) for 06. They are suspended from an old bike wheel, which is turned by a pulley and wiper motor (run on 3V from a computer power supply). If rain and wind aren't a factor, I think it could be used outside. I use mine in the garage in a forest scene, with the ghosts circling a faux fire. 3-4 24" blacklights make those girlies glow like nobody's business!
I'm on my beater laptop, so I can't directly link a pic, but if you look in my halloweengallery albums (link below), you can find a pic of the ghosties. If you'd like, I can post a pic of the mechanism so you can see if it will suit your purposes...Gothikim

Gothikim, I haven't found pictures of your ghosts yet, but I would definitely like to see the pictures of the mechanism. To help me along my decision making process.
I'm still deciding on whether I want them circling on my deck, which could be hung from the ceiling. Or circling them on the ground.
Circling on the ground seems a bit trickier I think. And making a big circle would bring up the issue of balancing weight with sturdiness and speed.
hmm...
Does anyone have any ideas for a mechanism for the ground?
It would be cool if I could do it like "Home Alone" where he has a Michael Jorden cutout atattched to a toy train that circled around a track. Somehow I don't think it's going to be that easy.
