Default My first prop for 08

I will probably put a strobe light inside pointed up at the head. I think it would be better if it had some sound too. Any suggestions on something easy that would scream once power is supplied? I'm not too good with electronics.

Very nice. I haven't looked into the X10 stuff yet. Is it difficult to use or expensive?

No, all you do is plug it in and plug whatever device you want to control into it. I forget how much I paid for it but I have it plugged into some lamps at my house when I'm not playing with my Halloween stuff. That way at night my wife can pull into our driveway and turn on the lights inside the house.

What size cylinder did you use?

Im going to guess we have been doing the trashcan scare for the last 8 years.... and it is great... we do 2 cans each year ....put it near the street and wait for the wet pants....

for easy sound I have been using an air horn.... yeah one of the cheepies ..... I use it on the bleed down air line.... air goes to the cylinder to open the prop.... and to the horn to bleed and close the prop....as long as you apply air it stays open and the horn sounds... when you stop the supply the air bleeds out the horn and closes the prop...

I recently got ahooga (?) horn.... it is a pain to supply 12v 3 amp ..... but it does do the trick...

as for the x10 control I did that for a while as well.... but no momentary latch is a pain.... having to turn off a prop isnt always easy to get the timing right.... I have changed to this for control.... 4 CH RF Wireless Remote Control Momentary/Toggle/Latch - eBay (item 350024665424 end time Sep-08-08 01:25:13 PDT)

the 8 channel is like 10 bucks more... he also has a 12 channel deal as well...

I dont use the 4 channel I use an 8 channel that does everything from one central control... I bought one of these off that guy 4 years ago.... I replaced the battery last year it is great....as long as I hold down a button the trash can stays open.... and makes sound... I use a quartz light in the bottom of the can for the light....

here is an example... I found that stuffed toy at a yard sale for a buck 4 or 5 years ago.... I cant imagine a better trash can monster....

while Im up and typing Ill hijack this thread and tell a trashcan story....

the first year we put that monster in the can my daughter got a little guy REAL bad.... she timed it right and it scared the little guy so bad he dropped the bag of candy and took off running....I saw what happened to I gathered his candy and took it to his mom's car.... the little guy was in the back seat and unhappy..... mom didnt understand what could have happened.... she was around the corner so she didnt see the can.... I offered to show her if she drove around the corner.... she did and we met in from of the trashcan... I yelled at evil daughter#2 and the can opened on cue.... as the can opened the little guy in the back seat reached over and locked the car door... which goes to show a locked car door can keep out the boogie man....

I ordered an electric horn yesterday and it's supposed to be in tomorrow. I hope it has the effect I want.

Looks awesome! I've been working on something similar for my zombie house this year. I still need to shop for an air compressor, what model/HP did you use?
