i really like the look that skullandbone.com achieved on their cemetary by using pin lights to focus on smaller areas such as the face on a tombstone. any ideas on where to get these? ive searched but mostly got large theatrical pin lights. thanks

try using low voltage landscape light sets (not solar). with colored lenses, you can get all different size spot lights, up lighting, accents etc.. I use them all the time for halloween and christmas. They are very inexpensive, more energy effecient and regular spot lights are too bright.
--- back in the day, before landscape lights were available we would take regular spot lights and cover them with tin foil and electrical tape. then cut a small opening in the foil over the face of the bulb to let out the exact amount of light we needed. you could try that with the landscape lights too, to get a more focused pin light effect.

They are used by mobile DJs all the time. Search for Mirror Ball and you will find the small ones. They are most commonly 30 watt focused pin spots which should be fine for your application. You should be able to find them at places like AmericanDJ.com, but the best deals are usually on ebay.
They also usually come with color filters. You should be able to get them for about $15.00.

Ebay usually has some good deals on pinspots. I use Par 36 cans w/ colored filters, and they do a really good job focusing the light in a small area. I believe I bought mine at Bulb America.
This year I am trying some LED bulbs I ordered yesterday fromHTML Code:http://bulbamerica.com/Par-Can-36--361-cat.htm
They use less wattage than standard bulbs and burn cooler.HTML Code:Minionsweb.com

I concur to use landscaping lights instead of pin spots. The reason being, pin spots get pretty hot and use more juice. You get the same effect and way more bang for the buck by getting a set of lights and 50 feet of cord, (or more) to put a spot in mulitple places wherever you want it.
