Does anyone have any ideas for props and/or decorations that could be made out of general household items? I haven't got the money to splash at the moment, but would like to try something out. I don't really have anything specific in mind, so all ideas are welcome

I'm sure this thread will be of help to other users as well.

Wow, wonder how I managed to miss that skeleton first time around! That's great. I hope to give something like that a try.

Hey, thanks Rookie ... was gonna post that too

freudstein ... it's fairly easy to do ... only thing I bought for this project was the glue. I got it on sale, so it's fairly cheap. Let me know if you need any tips, I'll do my best to help!

Doing snot rag mache, which is half a tissue covered in glue and folded like a "sandwitch" is great for corpsified stuff. Just lay a tissue on a peice of wax paper, cover one half in white glue, and then fold it. Let it sit for a minute, and then put it on the prop. It looks really cool!

You can use empty plastic milk jugs to make hanging ghosts.
Cut out some flaps on the side of the jug for arms, hang some cheesecloth or tulle over it.
Add a blue or green lightstick or LED light for a glow.

Have you seen the ghosts made out of cheesecloth dipped in a water glue mixture? and then dried over a ball or something of the sort?

Oh! Or how about potion bottles? Do a search on this site. TON's of inspiration and even some premade labels that are awesome.

i found 2 years ago, making stuff for our lab was eas cheap and easy. bottles and jars filled with water and the stick from a highlighter are blacklight sensitive. cardboard boxes make great "machines" , add some wires and buttons and your good. and those "grow a ...." things are great too,i.e eyeballs, animals, insects. put them in your jar(s) fill with bloody water and watch em grow. hope this helps
