That is awesome! I always thought projectors were lame until you pointed out they can be an incredible edition to a persons haunt.
One of these days I will get around to learning flash so I can make some cool stuff also. I just don't have the time so I am all in for your DVD as long as I think I can make it work. I have 3 windows in the front of my house but it is probably best to use 2. The dimensions are about 54" h x 55"w but there is a brick divider about 11" in between. What do you think? Also it is in my dining room that only has a depth from the window of about 10' max.
BTW, went to your hallowindow site but didn't put www and it went to your test apache page. Probably need a 301 in your config.
Can't wait to see the final product!Terror31

Projectors are expensive--the lightbulbs that go in them are outrageously expensive. I plan to borrow the projector from where I work and keep it for a couple days: Halloween (Friday) and party night (Saturday).

No worries about video format –

Since I'm from Wisconsin and have US videos, I--like many of my expat friends--have a DVD player that works will all zones and both NTSC and PAL (usually, one just pays a bit more for an 'open' player like this). I also have two DVD drives in my computer: one for US video and one for Asian video. So as for the format and zone limitations, I don't think we have a problem.
It's just one of those things you get used to dealing with when one lives overseas. So no worries on that point, mate.

Borrowing or renting a projector is probably the best way to go.

I would definitely recommend the white walmart shower curtains for rear projection material as its cheap (under 3.00 for a 70x70 piece), easy to get, and has a secondary life after halloween as shower curtains

Victor,
That is really cool!
I was going to purchase haunted house in a box from animated lighting this year, but changed my mind after viewing Mark's window. I purchased a projector for a few hundred less. I'm glad I did! I think the projector will give me more options in future displays. I'm going to connect my lights to a cheap fx box and have them react to the Hallowindow sounds.

Okay, for those of us who are "projector poor" ... please (those of you that do have one), give us some info on what (and where) to look for one. Please, please, PLEASE!
