You should be able to if the dvd player supports reading that file or if it was converted into a dvd vob file (that's the file type movies are typically encoded in)

this should work fine too i would assume. you're stuck to the 4:3 ratio, so while it won't fill your entire doorway with the video, you'll still be able to have a rather large image... probably around 90" diagonal or so. Just keep moving the projector farther away from the doorway to get as large of an image as possible to fill the screen (aka sheet
).
either way, i think it'll look great through the double doors!

I just watched the 2007 movie, I loved it and sound made it even better. I can't wait to see the 2008 version.
*I am not sure if anyone has asked this yet, but what software package do you use to create your work?

FrightKnight,
for drawing I use:
Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
for animation I use
Adobe Flash and After Effects
My friend Dewi Wood uses Logic for producing the sound design.

indeva,
Sorry, no door scenes this time around. I think it'll look awesome in your double doors regardless. Like drsprite said, it may not fill the area completely but it will still look alright. Zooming out the projector will help to fill the space but may still cut off some video on the sides.

I think you can connect most projectors to DVD players but you might want to check the specs if you are buying one. as for playing though a computer, I use a Mac and the Operating system comes with a built in DVD player. It will run the DVD no problem and connect to a projector via the Video connection (VGA or DVI I think) I'm unfamiliar with Windows... does anyone know if it has a built in DVD player app?

I just loved your website videos of previous years. Very nice with the soundtrack, especially. I'm one of those people who will buy your video when it comes out.
I live in Hong Kong right now, and I can see this working in my skyscraper window...a show for the neighbors since trick or treating isn't popular here.
Again, top marks.

Thanks for all the posts everyone. dpeterson brought something to my attention. I won't be able to guarantee that the DVD will work outside of North America. I know that there are other broadcast formats elsewhere in the world. I believe the North American format is NTSC and elsewhere it's PAL. The DVD will only be available in NTSC so people in other regions will have to make sure that their DVD players can play North American formatted DVDs. If anyone can shine a little more light on this topic please chime in.
I would love to have Hallowindow playing in a Honk Kong apartment... I just can't guarantee it will work on a DVD player there.
