My wife says, Hey! Found some great plans for coffin. I say GREAT! This is what insued.
Ya gotta have wood.
Ya gotta have great plans .
Measure twice.
Finally, all wood cut.
Recut the ones you didn't measure, or cut right.
After two days, What tha @#%&!!!
After some alterations to wood, I thought It was going well for a couple of hours work. If You build one, Be prepared to cut a couple of angles (not Your fingers). Most of all be patient with Yourself.
Plans curtsey of ScareFX.com $25 Coffin Plans. Adjusted for inflation...About $33.00

Ye for this year I am making 2 of these but they will be a ground breaker. Also ever consider using the wood off of palletes? There free at most lumber places because they try to get rid of 'em. This coffin could be a $0 coffin =)

I liked the light wood. I need pallets to build Words Smallest Haunted House from Skull & Bones.

Good job..25 bucks!!! MAN I'm up to about 150.00 already just in lumber. I'm building one myself this year. Actually mine is going to be made into an ice chest with areas for both mixed drinks and beer. Your absolutely right about the angles, thats what I was doing all day today. Well OK between the BS'n with my friends I got SOME cutting done...hehe. I tried using autoCAD for it but ended up having to measure it all again. Keep posting pictures, would like to see how yours comes out. I may build anther one and set it up straight on the wall so people can take pictures of themselfs in it for our party. We usually get around 60-80 people at the party.

Those are the same plans that I used for mine. I made two in a few hours and I was pleased in how they turned out.
Some mods I used and it helped:
I used (2) 1x3's for my small peices insted of ripping a fence board in half.
Cut the (4) boards that are used for the sides at a 15 degree angle..this helped them butt up against each other better.
I didn't put the brace boards every where the plans showed and it is still very sturdy. We had a storm the next day and it blew both lids over and one coffin and they held together no problems.
I plan on building a few more and making some ground breaking ones also. My girlfriend just laughed at me when she seen me bring out power tools to make these....I am not known for my mechanical ability. Then after I was finished she just shook her head and said she was impressed and wanted some more made. So if I can do it anybody can...really!!
Can't wait to see yours when your done.

Those are just too cool. I had planned on making the second one out of some old fence boards and this is going to work PERFECT!!
