Last year around Halloween I had planned on using the scene setter rolls that "transform" your walls into a spooky environment like a graveyard or a castle. I bought a bunch of stuff for a party I plan on having at the end of the season last year. I have been brainstorming ideas to start my preparations and gather any supplies I might need. One of the ones I came up with was to do a faux dungeon. I have what I believe is a raised ranch house. I have a main living area where the bedrooms are and then a lower level adjacent to the garage. There is a stair case leading down to that level and I wanted fog to periodically come from down there.
Since I have pets I also needed a way to keep them away from the fog machine so I decided that I am going to make a dungeon gate at the bottom of the stairs by building a door frame and using PVC as bars. It won't keep animal out that charges it but I know for my pets just having a visible barrier will be enough. Since it will already have a dungeon look I decided that I want to have beastly sounds coming from down there. Then I thought it might be neat to have the sound wired to one of those Lightning F/X modules so the lights flicker when the beast growls.
My question is has anyone ever used one of the Lightning F/X modules? If so what do you think? Is there another option out there to get my desired effect?

A lot of people use them, including myself, they work great and for the price they can not be beat!

Sounds really nifty!
As far as the F/X box - they are pretty great! I have two, and got them from Spilsbury for MUCH less money than your link:

It's the exact same one, just different color lightening bolt.
For what you're describing, this will work exactly as you want it to. You just need to plug the lights into the box (more than one, you can plug in a power strip) and set the unit near the sound source and adjust the sensitivity until it's flickering the way you want it.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I just wanted to warn you about the fog indoors. We used it indoors a few years back and had to turn it WAY down and eventually off, even with a window slightly open. The fumes will build up and bother your lungs after awhile.
On a positive note....you'll love the scene scetters. We've used it in our unfinished basement for several years now.

Look in my photos on Flickr, I did a dungeon in my garage 3 years ago using scene setter paper.
