Hey all. Love all the great work being done here. Well today our hearse finally came up from the celler and got re-assembled out side. I kinda had an idea of how big it was going to be when the build started way back in January. But now when it is all together, Holy cow. It's 7 1/2 ' high by 13' long. A lot of the pre build wood had to be washed off from sitting to long and me being a dummy never covered it. Still have a lot of work to do on it. Like make 2 more wheels, trim, add some props and wiring. I may paint the wheels brown to break up the color a little. It was a blast building today. As i was standing on the ladder trying to get the top section in place. The neighbors started getting a view of me. You could see them come to the fence line and peek in to see what was going on. The neighbors on on side said to me it was about time i got busy. (little do they know) They said they can't wait to see what's coming this year. the neighbors behind me. Who i most of the time do not get along with, where peeking through the fence. The last thing i heard was"holy smokes" I'm just eating it up.... Here are a few pics for you all. For those that have not seen the action of this prop you can find a dry run video on our site under the 2008 page. Enjoy folks...
And here is a shot with my little master builder
And here is a small video with the flicker lights going

I wanna know too- did you make the wheels? I bought 4 from Harbor Freight (yes, I've been warned about the weight they will hold), they're 36" - what size are yours? I was going to do a more formal hearse like that this year but decided to do an open buckboard type wagon (like what they used in the movie Tombstone). Awesome job, can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Thanks for the comments guys. Today i plan on making the other 2 wheels. BooBerrie & GDfreak. Yes i did make the wheels. The fronts are 38'' and the rears are 48''. There made out of 3/4'' plywood. The pattern i just made myself using a nail and string along with a level. Not to hard once you find your center. Takes a long time to cut them out. Going to do some shopping today for bits and pieces for it. If the weather holds today i may bring out the electronics and get it all fired up. If that happens i will post more pics & video tonight........

A little more work done today. I got the other 2 wheels cut out and just finished painting them before the thunder storms moved back in. Finished adding creepy cloth to the sides. Added a small skelly to the top. put 4 small foam skulls on the hearse, Added some black roses to the inside. If the rain stops i may go back out and work on it some more tonight.
