Hello, I purchased around 15 foam wig heads today for my props and I have a few questions. First whats the best way to shape them like tool wise? Secondly all the heads will be used for people that have just been killed so I can't corpsify them if there a way I can get them to look even realer? And If you could post any pictures of heads you have made it would be wonderful!

As for tools I would suggest a wood rasp(file made for wood). The most effective and realistic dead person look would be a cheap mask from Big Lots or Wal-Mart. Unless you are incredibly talented, it would take you FOREVER to make 15 'realistic' dead faces. Better to spend a touch more money and get some masks and use the saved time to build bodies for the heads.

    This is just my opinion.

I've used paper mache to good effect. Here is a link to my "how-to" on my website - Prop Tutorials - Halloween Haunt, How To Make Props, Haunted House, Decorations, Haunting, Home haunt, Projects, Instructions, Tips, Directions

I also think the mask idea is not bad if you are in a pinch.

I always use celluclay, with paper clay to finish it off, there are alot of ways to use both of these products in many ways. The celluclay would leave a rougher finish, I think alot depends on the paint job you do, no matter what the product, or method you use. If the color is good , the material used will be secondary.
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

I love playing with those foam heads, I actually just bought a few more myself. I enjoy making different things out of them, however, mine aren't really realistic but I'll post a couple pics of them anyways. I also found that those doll busts kids play with are fun to experiment with also. I put a couple of WIP pics up too. Hope you enjoy.
