I'm working on a flaming cauldren for my witches coven, here are some progress pics and a little video of it in the "flame experimental" stage. I'm using a round fan and red tub I got at Target. Still needs adornments and paint. What'dya think? Looks good so far? Stupid? Design suggestions? Any input welcome.

The flame effect looks better than anything I have seen on any store-bought prop. Great job. Looking forward to see it after the paint job.

Thanks RS...It took ALOT of variations to get it to look like that. Bulb placement, cloth shapes, placement, cauldren height, leg shapes...NOTHING looked right..I finally settled on yellow colored grocery bags for the flames, they let the light shine through. I spent 3 weeks (off and on) fiddling with just the damn flame effect to the point where I almost said "screw it!" no flames, who cares? It pays to not give up I guess.

Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

First of all, it looks great. It even has a slight firey sound to it.

What kind of cloth did you use? Did you just attach them directly to the fan casing?

I used cloth at first, but I didn't like it. So I tried some yellow colored plastic grocery bags and zip tied them directly to the fan grill. Works like a charm, and yes, it even makes crackly fire-like sounds...didn't expect that, but it was nice bonus!

LOL! I was thinking jet engine myself...which may be a bad thing. It's SUPPOSED to be a log fire, and it looks more like a gas flame. I need to experiment with shapes more.
