Hello everyone, my haunt theme for this year is an asylum. I will have a small graveyard for the people who have died at the asylum, a small walk through with a holding cell and an operating room type of deal. But all the doctors will have been murdered and we will have live "actors" as the escaped inmates running around! Do you guys have any ideas on what I can add because I want more! Thanks for all your help!

I don't know if you have tombstones already, but if you don't make them very bland, anyone buried in a paupers graveyard wouldn't have cherubs and angels looking over them.

A strong wooden wall with a window, into which is placed a good peice of plexiglass, but the frame of the window allows the plexiglass to wiggle just a bit. Actor behind wall can then smash/throw obtects at the glass, and it rattles very nicely, and gets some scares. (will need to be able to switch this actor out with a second, it's tiring)
Straight jackets.
Patients:
Padded room: get mattresses from good will stores. Into which have a very bubbly person who just wants to play ring around the rosey, and starts throwing themself at the wall if the patrons don't 'fall down'. (another tiring room to act in)
A VERY CLEAN room with an inmate going nuts about people tracking dirt in.
"Electro shock treatment".
"Delusional Parasitosis"
Fixations on Dolls
Bugs
Shoes
Blood
for laughs, you could have someone obsessed with Christmas, or even Halloween.
Quiet person just staring blankly and drooling while huddled in a corner. That's it. No 'scares', but certainly creepy.
Labotomy.
Someone writing wierd stuff all over the floor/wall/ceiling, and not too happy with people scuffing it up with their shoes.
A death tunnel leading out to the aforementioned graveyard.
Mass grave not completely covered.

Great Ideas, I think I might try that mass grave type of deal, heck I would like to do it all but I don't think I have enough space or money for that matter!

A handtruck with a hannibal lecter mask hanging on it, maybe you or someone you know could fashion something that looks like a straight jacket on the floor next to it. For the padded room, go to a fabric store and get either thin upholstery foam or batting for quilting. Put on plywood or walls, cover in cheap fabric. Staple every couple of feet (kind of like the pattern of buttons on a mattress) to show depth, then hot glue buttons over the staples. Finish the scene with a spattering of blood. Make a cell with bars made of pvc, and a lunatic or two behind. Make it right across from a wall, with just enough room for people to have to skinny up against the wall to avoid the reach of lunies. Set up a doctors office, have a file or two with the names of some of the "inmates" and their horrible crimes. There should be a sign outside about asylum for the criminally insane. Recordings of tortured screams and psychotic laughter. Could you make a table that looks like a gurney and have broken straps/tie downs, maybe a really big hypodermic needle looking thing. We're going to do a similar thing, but it will be part of our hayride and outside... like they are entering the asylum grounds... they'll go through a broken barrier arm next to a guard shack with a dead guard. Oh, good times.
So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab.
