Hello folks. All you old hats probably won't be interested in this but I'm posting it for anyone who hasn't tried their hand at paper mache. I've been asked a few times if I have any tips or basic techniques for people getting started, so I finally sat down and made a tutorial called Paper Mache - The Ghoul Friday Way.
This tutorial covers the basics on my OWN technique (there's so many out there). I talk about making a cast from items you already have using basic mache.
I plan on making a series of these. The next one will probably cover how I use tissue paper/paper towels and specifics on fine detailing.
Hope it helps someone out there![]()

Ghoul Friday- I started reading your link to your tut.
I have always used a wad up paper and lots of tape kind of methodology. Very scary, but it gets me where I was going fast. LOL ! But I liked your TUT. I think I will try being more discipline. At least you can take Photo in the process. You would NOT want photos of some of my starts....you would be scratchin your head, asking how in the world is this going to turn into anything. Thanks for the post.Today the Pond. Tomorrow The World!

Hee hee don't let the notes on organization fool you. Sometimes I have such crazy methods and whirlwind moments that I get very strange looks by my boyfriend that clearly express "What ARE you doing?". And thanks for the reminder about wadding up paper. I did this for building rocks once and added it to the tutorial.

Thanks You, Thank You , Thank You..... I have never done paper mache before and have been tossing around the idea of doing some table top Halloween trees, so this will help me alot when I'm ready to give it a try!

Thanks for posting this tut - I know from last year but still helpful! I haven't done paper mache since I was in Girl Scouts ?? years ago so a refresher course was needed.
