Hey Tech. Do you think it might be easier to hang fabric? The Salvation Army and Goodwill store always has king size bed sheets for a buck or two. You could dip these sheets in a big pot of black Rit dye, and then just dry them and staple to the soffit every six inches or so.

Clip it to your gutter with rolling pins they are like bobby pins but heavier duty.

I would but I don't want to worry about rain.

Hi... thre are some large clamps, similar to clamps you would find on jumper cables. Or bungie cords if the tarps have grommets. S hooks might work if you can hang off your gutter... there's always staples.
So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab.

I don't want to sound like a smart Ass. But here in the Tarp Capital of the US (Florida). We nail our tarps to a wood plank before we possition them on our roofs. This was what we had to do after the huricanes hit. The weight of the blank kept the tarp in place. The planks were about 2" x 8" x 10'. We need two people to put the planks on the roof then we nailed the tarp to the plank. Perhapes you can let one end dangle from the roof while the plank lay about 12" from the bottom roof line.
