You know,
I've been pricing camo netting online and at local army surplus outlets, and I gotta tell ya, 5X10 for 30 bucks or more?
Nah, there has to be a better way.
So I had an idea.
Buy some cheap camo pattern fabric at the local walmart or fabric store, or online at denverfabrics.com. The basic BDU green, taupe and black splotches. Even at 5.75 a yard at Denverfabrics, the stuff is 60 inches wide. Three yards ends up being about 18 bucks and some change.
Lay the fabric out flat and cut masses of 3-4 inch slices with a pair of shears all over the fabric, in all directions, basically shredding it will keeping it intact as a piece of cloth. Then hang from the ceiling or on a wall.
Anyone ever try this? Seems a good method in principle, and a better technique for the cash-strapped when doing indoor forest or swamp scenes.

I was planning on ordering a couple of these to act as the wall panels for our walk thru this year. I have also built entire commercial attractions out of this stuff.

I know I've looked at the camo too and it's too expensive. What I would do is if I could fine the camo fabric, I'd use pinking shears for the cuts and I'd do them all the same direction. The pinking shears stops the fabric from starting to unravel. (I'm sure the camo you buy has been treated to prevent this from happening) I've notice that the camo you can buy always has the cuts running the same direction. This will keep the fabric a little more manageable, otherwise you will end up with gaping whole when you hang it.
by the way...what is BDU?Spectorized

BDU is Battle Dress Uniform... Another Acronym the military uses for their uniforms...
