Well, gang, it's been awhile.
I haven't posted in a long time, but I have a good reason. There hasn't been time to prepare for anything halloween this year until, and of course now everything is due to happen at once. Not only am I throwing the usual party with my fellow hosts, I'm also performing at Trickcontreat in Oklahoma City, the only Halloween holiday themed con in the country (no, not the movie, the holiday and all it entails). Google it when you get the chance. It's a small con but generating interest and may soon be the big event for haunters and ghouls in the midwest.
Anyway, to keep with the forum topics of props, I have a scenario to throw at you, just to see what you madmen and women think. A large living room has been darkly enchanted.
Ivy and moss hang from every possible surface, including the furniture and lights.
Giant mushrooms grow in the corners (duct tape mache and pvc pipe)
Trees spring from the ground (pvc pipe and branches, covered in great stuff and painted)
A large stump with a face over it's hollow glares at visitors (a sono tube with great stuff and paint)
Crickets chirp, an owl calls, and goblins, banshees and bogarts are afoot.
What would you do? What props were just made for this dark fairy-tale scene?
I am looking into getting some led t-lite candles and maybe hanging them in the branches, perhaps those with a flicker setting. If so, what containers would I put them in?
I'm already fairly stretched, what with the trees and the mushrooms, but I just had to ask.
Not bringing this to you guys for feedback would be silly.
It's good to be back. Hopefully I be able to stay around more this year and the next, and the next, and the next...

I did an enchanted forest for a party last year. I'll try and find my posts so I dont' have to retype everything (plus it'll show some pics).
Just a bit of info and a couple of photos. Don't know if it'll spark any ideas, but good luck!

how about some evil faeries... with fangs, or like the tooth faeries in HellBoy II.
Twinkling "eyes" in the trees... for the tea lights, maybe just paint the bases black and place around. Try some different, strategically placed lights to cast some creepy shadows. Sound like a neat room.So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab.

Fireflies are EXPENSIVE, aren't they? I mean like 4 will set you back a bundle from what I've seen.
Is there a firefly source I don't know of? Where do you guys get yours?
BTW, Grimm Faery Music? Oh, man, that's a winner!

I hung glass jars from the ceiling and labeled them "Fairy Traps" and just threw in a cheap flicker bulb. You can frost the glass or whatever. Throw some flicker lights in your forest. If the actual bulb is hidden, it should give off a nice soft flicker glow.
