I'm getting all the software/hardware for my coffin MIB. But I stumped with this.
I will be getting the VSA with the group buy. But, I am hearing things about a VSA console. My question...What is it and do I need it?
I'm going with DMX and am already getting an Entec Open DMX USB interface and Exorcist if that helps...

VSA console is a component that Exorcist needs to interface with VSA, and YES you need it for Exorcist to work.
VSA console is available from
Visual Show Automation Console - Overview
DMXorcist doesn't need VSA console, and if you are wanting to go with a DMX paradigm then drop me an message via SkullTroniX (tm) Support :: Index and I can sort you out with a beta version of DMXorcist.
Oh, and dont forget you need VSA as well

Coincidentally I just emailed you guys about the DMeXorcist. So, to clarify, I'm getting DMeXorcist and VSA so I do not need VSA console?

Yes, get VSA Console, you will get Exorcist as DMXorcist is not an official product yet, I still class it as 'in development', the good news is Exorcist customers get the opportunity to Beta test DMXorcist before we do officially release it.
Exorcist and DMXorcist will become separate products, with DMXorcist being aimed at more professional set-ups that want to use a single computer to control multiple sets via a single DMX chain, however, we've have been maintaining a policy of allowing existing Exorcist customers to have free updates as Exorcist develops.
Once DMXorcist is officially released then it will probably have a significantly higher price than Exorcist, and we will stop offering the free upgrades/beta test opportunities for DMXorcist, so the smart thing is to buy Exorcist NOW and enrol for the DMXorcist Beta testing, that way you get both.

Okay, so since DMeXorcist is in Beta (and I will be a Beta tester for you) I will need to get VSA console. Got it. Once DMeXorcist is final, then and only then will I not need the addition of VSA console.
So that brings me back to my original question: What is a VSA console? Is it software or hardware or both? If it is hardware, how does it hook up to my computer?
Sorry for all the questions but I thought all I needed was VSA. I didn't know it was a two-part deal.

Its a piece of software that makes it possible for me to remotely control VSA from my own software.

Oh. I thought that's what Exorcist did along with allowing me to attach triggers. Should I think of VSA console more as a driver that Exorcist needs?

yeah its kind of like a driver, VSA console is a product that is only of use to an experienced computer programmer, where Exorcist can be used by anyone.
