Okay, so I found some inexpensive cheesecloth to make a few ghosts... But, the cloth doesn't react to blacklight. What's the best way to get a bright reaction? Tide? Rit whitener? All suggestions welcome!

I buy the Rit in liquid form and spray it on the ghost.
Let it dry before using it on the rig as it will be a lot heavier when wet.

noahbody, I SWEAR I'm not trying to step on your toes, but when CoalMinersGhost was working on his FCG, I tried an experiment with the RIT and regular liquid laundry detergent. There was absolutely ZERO difference between the two. Both had excellent results. I just soaked the cloth in some water with a double shot of detergent and let it dry without rinsing, and it was just as bright as the RIT soaked cloth.
I did this stuff with the lights turned off in the garage. It was pretty neat watching the fabric go from invisible to glowing like a light bulb after I took it out of the bowls. But then again, I'm easily amused.

So am I Rookie, so am I... The Rit seems to be a PITA to find around here. I think I'll try the Tide trick for sure and the Rit if I can find eny! Thanks for the suggestions

I've used Rit and I've used plain old detergent, and I'll 2nd the plain detergent over Rit. With one caveat though: make sure it's a detergent with bluing in it. It will have a blue tint to it out of the bottle. I wouldn't expect an eco-friendly no-dye, no-fragrance detergent to work the same as good old Tide or Cheer
NO offense to hippy-dippy types--I use Ecos myself!
As a touch-up each year, I mist my ghosties (I have 5) with detergent diluted with water in a spray bottle. They seem to lose some of their umph in storage, and a little spritz seems to perk them right up!Gothikim

Good to know... I use the regular Tide (which is blue) so I'll try that first. I can always try the Rit later.

Woolite is fluorescent. You can put it on almost any surface to make it glow under a black light. Dip the fabric in the Woolite and let it dry. Then get creative!!

I also have some GID spray paint... Goes on clear and glows really brightly under blacklight.

You guys read my mind. I went out and bought RIT today and was going to experiment with it tonight. Can you guys give me directions on what I need to do. I am assuming put 1 box of Rit in a bucket, fill with water and drop in material. I read here to let it drip dry. If I have it wrong please let me know..

Hey Princess, just dip it in there and squeeze the cloth a few times. Squeeze out the excess and get it all fanned out. It should dry in about half an hour.
