I'm attempting to make a bottomless well prop combining Merlin's well and LL's original bottomless pit. I'm going to carve ledges in the foam to hold the glass and mirror but I don't want to make it three feet tall. Is there a mimum distance that has to be kept between the two to get the bottomless effect?

You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? The power of voodoo. Who do? You do. Do what?

I dont know what the minimum distance needed is, but mine is about 3 feet and that was good for the effect.

The effect can be achieved with shorter distances, however the human eye recognizes the pattern more easier with the shorter distance, so the effect may not be as cool.

i love these things - for those who don't know what we are jammering on about...

i dont know - having built two of these... i have never heard of anyone trying less than 2 feet...
which i agree - so you could change the texture of the well interior to something with less detail (black background with blue LEDs or some such nonsense), but i think that the quality of the effect inside the well would be cheating the amount of work you are putting into the outside (carving foam is not exactly a leisure activity). any reason other than cost and time you cant go three feet? the second one i built was 8 feet - and the difference from 3 feet in breathtaking.however the human eye recognizes the pattern more easier with the shorter distanceDo Scottish androids dream of electric sheep?

The well is going to be in front of a Samara animatronic so I'd like it to be somewhat proportionate. I'm going to give it a try at two feet so keep your fingers crossed! An 8 FOOT TALL BOTTOMLESS PIT??? That sounds amazing- I'd love to see it (hint, hint)!any reason other than cost and time you cant go three feet? You remind me of the babe. What babe? I don't know if this might help but I made a bottomless pit years ago and added a extra doubleway mirror to conceal a girl at the bottom of the pit. The first year it a pitcure of Samara, and then later I replaced it with Regan from the Exorcist. I started a how-to, but I never finished it. Too much work and not enough time.

I would like to build one of those, but does anyone know where you can purchase a two-way mirror cheap? I've found some places, but they have been pretty expensive.

I bought the parts today at Lowes
18" x 24" plexi glass $ 6.77 each
mirror window film $ 26.34 3' x 15' roll
Apllication kit $ 6.98
I like the plexi vs glass for the obvious reason.
