Amen to my buddy Rookie Spooker (who I'm sure is still waaayy behind on his FCG). He said it all there.

Skullie...just take a deep breath....relax...and send me all our Halloween stuff. That way there is no temptation for ya! I'll finish it for ya. just kidding.

This board has definitely given me hundreds of ideas...but just pick one and go. I've got 6 projects in the works now, and each day I log on, I find at least 6 more to begin...heck...I'm planning on my 2009 prop list now!

Just remember, if ya have any questions about anything Halloween related, whether you need to know how to get a certain effect, or where to look to get the stuff ya need, this board is more than capable of helping (or hurting ya lol), usually on a tight budget too...

In the few short years since I joined, I've learned 100 times more than I knew, but only 1/100th of where I'd like to be. Just take it in at your own pace...

Once ye 'as yer theme, an' idea drawn down on paper wot ye want ta do.. (an' ye should ALWAYS 'ave a pad with ya), list wot materials ya need, then look on FreeCycle.com, Craiglist, etc as thar always be stuff swabs be doin' away wit' tha' ye ken get fer free, or very few dabloons.. Other places ta look thru be Goodwill & DAV stores fer parts. Also, look in Habits fer Humanity's ReStore for items ye ken build with. Ask freinds and contractors who might be remodelin' fer their used wood, etc.. I got all th' wood fer me pirate ship from a buddy who was doin' a remodel. One large room 'ad rough-sawn wood planks on th' walls (don't ask, ugly itwas! ). Got a great deal o' planks, 'nuff fer th' ship, an' 'ad lots left o'er.

Skullie, I can really relate,I too was relatively happy in MY own little prop world, but no more- I keep seeing things on here that i add to my already long list of things I want to make. I have a three ring binder, and keep pics, notes, plans etc in it, and pieces of paper with things jotted down on them stuck all over in it. - I think and plan all year around, I did some what before, but now, it's become obsession!!

i maid the mistake of going to lowes today, got a 500ft spool of solenoid control wire on sale but i am now working on my list for things around 2011

I agree that joining the HF crowd has got me planning and starting projects much earlier than usual. Made a 3' x 3' tumbstone today when I was supposed to be helping my son work on his car.

As a break at work, I grab a piece of paper and sketch out an idea and start to refine. The bad part about this is that I have to STORE all these ideas when/if executed. So I date each one and promise myself not to start one that is less than a month old. Hoping this will reduce the false starts and multi revisions of projects. I've got one idea I wanted to start last weekend, didn't and thought of another feature today, to include in it. So I'll incorporate into the work sketches next week and seek further inspiration.
