Thread: Ghost Orb/Ball - Anyone done this???

I haven't done it yet but have the plan in my head.

I have a few of the large clear plastic DIY Christmas ball ornaments from Michael's. I plan to take a the circuit/battery pack out of a flicker LED tealight and replace the bulb with a bright blue LED. Then I plan to surround the tealight with that UV sensitive cobweb stuff and have wisps of it on the outside trailing from the orb as well.

(ie. Disney's haunted Mansion Movie)

The tealight should provide the glow inside and a black light aimed at it should illuminate the rest. I also plan to suspend it on a counter-balanced mobile type setup and possibly even rotated by a small motor so it floats around the yard.

Any other ideas?

This might not work for a floating orb, but I use a glass globe from a light, filled it with the multi-colored cellophane that you can get a Michaels. Then I used one of those battery operated jack-o-lantern lamps that uses LED lights that slowly change from one color to another. Gives a pretty good effect to a crystal ball. Might be worth a try.

Might look pretty cool. I say try it. You never know how it will look until you do it! keep us Posted!

If you are looking for the look of the ghost orb in the movie Haunted Mansion, you could try filling the glass ball with warm water and place a small piece of dry ice in it to get the ghostly mist coming out of it. Maybe even have a water proof LED hooked to a battery to make the inside glow. Just a thought.

I like it! Sorry... for some reason I had missed your post and video until now! Just add some wispy cotton spiderwebs trailing off and you've got yourself a pretty nifty ghost-orb!

So many ideas... I may have to try them all! LOL

Well when I do I will post some videos!
